Beware the "also available in paperback" link on this page!

Fresh Aire Christmas was originally released in a 2 pianos/4 hands arrangement with spiral binding. This has been out of print for some time. The paperback that Amazon links to saying "also available in paperback" is the Piano Solo arrangement.

You don't have to know a lot about music to realize that the difference between the two versions is not merely binding. If you want the 2 piano arrangement, you'll need to use the "order it used" link.

Geometry Book Review

To Whom It May Concern:

I totally agree with Mr. Richard Kleinschmidt "RichK" regarding the book not being more descriptive with their explanations regarding the examples, I would rank this book with Geometry for Enjoyment and Challenge by Milauskas et. al. Geometry for Enjoyment and Challenge gives better examples, but some of the exercises in this book are more challenging. Three-dimensional and solid geometry is covered extensively approximately 4 chapters are covered throughout this text. I thought this book was great, the exercises range from the level of difficulty (A-1, A-2, and B) This title does not truly describe the difficulty of the book A Course In Geometry, it should be titled An indepth course on Geometry because thats what it is, this book would definitely cater for an honors class.

The major gripe about this book is that in Ch.15 they mix two-dimensional geometry with three-dimensional geometry basically a square pyramid being broken down into 4 isosceles right triangles and a square and calculating the surface area and volume. Their is no general formula for calculating the lateral area like several books, such as calculating the slant height and the formula lateral area equals 1/2 times the perimeter times the slant height. The three-dimensional part should have been separate and not being merged in two-dimensional geometry and three-dimensional geometry.

My favorite part of the book are the congruent triangle proofs using the asa, sas, sss, and aas theorem, they are quite extensive some proofs take 12 steps. and the areas of segments of circles (hexagons incribed in circles, squares inscibed in circles, equilateral and isoceles triangles inscribed in circles) areas of composite figures (trapezoids and rectangles connected to each other, etc.) the area of six-shaped flower, I feel the authors intentionally on each chapter did not vgive that much examples in a descriptive manner, to make the teacher teach and force the student to learn to think critically by visualizing and using mathematical reasoning. If you want a challenge and get the most out of geometry, get this book. I enjoy reading and solving math problems for fun. I collect books for a living and do this on my spare time. Other positives are the explanation and derivation of three-dimensional theorems such as the surface area and volumes of spheres, cones, etc. There are problems of calculating the area of lune, a fraction of the area of a sphere, that is like calculating the area of a circle in 3-dimensions. That is what a sphere is a 3-dimesnional circle. No other book in high school will talk about lunars, until you hit calculus. This will really prepare an engineering, mathematics or anybody who is in the scientific discipline such as physics, geology, chemistry, economics (social science) or someone who wants a challenge in math and has a thirst for knowledge this is one of the best math books around to prepare to be ready for higher levels of math.

Overall, I give this book 4 stars I would have given 5 if the book was more organized.

A delightful classic

This book covers classical Euclidian geometry. It has been around a long time. (The 1982 copyright date is just the last time the text was revised for printing. The pictures etc. date back to the 1940's.) The exercises are delightfully challenging.
Amazon listed the book's reading level as "young adult". I have been teaching advanced HS geometry classes with this book for 6 years, and I can report that most bright students find the language challenging without someone to help them along. If you are homeschooling etc, you may want to investigate whether you can get the solution text from the publisher.
I give the exercises in the book 5 stars. Again and again I find myself saying: wow I never would have thought of that. The text that accompanies the exercises gets only three stars.

Excellent first book about space...

What a GREAT book! I was looking for a book for my 3 1/2 year old that would introduce him to space in a simple way, "What's Out There" is exactly what I wanted. He is so captivated by this book, it is short, simple and easy to understand. It is perfect for him now and will be for the next several years. All of the basics are covered such as the 9 planets and their relation to the sun, how the earth travels around the sun and spins, the moon, gravity, the make-up of all the planets, asteroids etc. Each topic is explained in a fun and easy way for a child to understand and the illustrations are wonderful. Highly recommend as a first book about space!

A little too grown-up for toddlers with short attention spans.

At first, I read the reviews and thought it would be suitable for a younger toddler (not school aged) and then when it came home, I realized this book might be a little advanced for a younger reader ( mine is 3). Little boys especially, may be interested in space but they also have short attention spans and anything more than a sentence or two will not keep young toddlers interested the way a shorter, more kid-friendly book would. My toddler gets tired of the words halfway through and just turns the pages and looks at the pictures. And that is how he "reads" the book.

Despite the wordy and somewhat grown-up-level references ( theres a page that talks about how constellations were named etc. Irrelevant.) the book seems to be a favorite of my sons right now, particularly because we've introduced him to astronomy. I always loved having space and astronomy material growing up and I can only speak for myself as I was a child and I preferred more pictures and facts in my books.

Little children tend to want interesting stories or a challenge (think puzzles or hands -on approach) to keep them interested. This book did not have a story nor was it a picture book. Nonetheless, it is a good book to teach about space but it will require more involvement in order to teach your child about what really is "out" there.

The pictures are kid friendly but they tend to lean more towards a page layout of space with some pictures relevant to the words written. If you are looking for a richer book with many many pictures of planets, black holes, etc then this is not it. It is somewhat boring for a toddler as far as activity level and captivating pictures go.

But for the price, it cant be beat. Especially with the knowledge that is given throughout the pages.

If you have a toddler that will sit still (mine wont.ever) or you have an inquisitive older toddler this is perfect.

Nonetheless, it is a good book to have in your childs space library.

This is a GREAT book! Goes into alot of detail about the solar system but still keeps it entertaining for kids! My husband is into astronomy and we want my daughter to have an interest too. She loved saying the names of the planets! VERY cute!!

The Bible when it comes to Football Drills

Hi Coach Bass,

I have your 1st edition but I have to say your 2nd edition is better. I like the way you break down each position and illustrate the proper way each drill should be performed. I have coached youth football for 14 years and I still am learning the nuances of each position. Each year I start out teaching what I know based on my offensive and defensive schemes, but each year I have different types of players that force me to modify my schemes. With that said, I use your book as a resource guide to make sure I cover the proper technique when coaching my players and coaches.

As a head coach, your assistant coaches come with very different football backgrounds. Its nice to have your book available so we can use it in deciding which technique and drill is best for our team. Because in the end, I want my players to continue to playing football at the next level and by teaching them different techniques gives them a chance to succeed.

Inspirational for a new player

My 12-year-old middle school strong safety found the book engrossing from the first thumb-through, even enough to set aside the video games for a while. And he kept coming back to it, even after he broke his collarbone in a game. The injury hasn't changed his mind about trying out again next year and he regards the book as a valuable guide. If he continues playing through high school, I expect the book will continue to be consulted regularly. And if it falls apart from so much use, I'll be sure to buy him another one.
